What sort of training does MIMU provide?

An important part of MIMU’s approach is building the capacity of civil society agencies to better manage information for decision-making in humanitarian, development and peace-related activities.

Our technical courses have been developed by the MIMU team and are provided in Myanmar language. These focus on skills in data management (Excel training), geospatial data management and mapping (QGIS and GPS training), as well as the skills to manage and visualize data for decision-making (Information Management and Power BI training). MIMU provides certificates for those successfully completing our face-to-face and mentored distance learning courses which include assignments.

Currently the courses are offered in different forms depending on the course content:

  • In-person or virtual training (Basic and Intermediate QGIS; Basic and Intermediate Excel; Information Management and Power BI workshops);
  • Mentored distance learning (Basic Excel); and
  • Online programmes for self-study (Basic QGIS and Basic Excel training).

Candidates must be put forward by their organisation/department and will be considered on the basis of the likely use of the skills being taught, in their workplace following the training.

MIMU Training programmes include:

Provides basic skills in the use of QGIS, a free tool which allows users to generate simple maps using their own data along with the MIMU base data.
