Myanmar Teacher Education Working Group

Myanmar Teacher Education Working Group (MTEWG) is established in April 2013. Its Co-chairs are UNICEF and the British Council; role of Co-chairs will rotate by group decision and free nomination. The MTEWG is doing bimonthly meetings at UNICEF or the British Council. MTEWG focuses on different aspects of teacher education (in-service, pre-service, CPD, etc...) in view of supporting the teacher education system in Myanmar - i.e. infrastructure, organization/ management, policy, etc.

The Vision of MTEWG is to support Teacher Education in Myanmar through forming a network of organizations working in the same field, and promoting all interactions within the organizations and among teachers. MTEWG aims to improve teachers and teacher educators’ competency throughout their life and strives to be as inclusive as possible.

At regular meetings of MTEWG, updates and resources are shared, workshops on technology and access to education are done, information or links for education are pooled, regular activities as a group are planned for, and ways to support education reform process in Myanmar is sought. MTEWG collaborates with MoE and all partner organizations who are working in the teacher education sector in Myanmar. MTEWG is also collaborating with other sub working groups such as, Basic Education, Education and Disability, Early Childhood Care Development, Special Education Needs, Non Formal Education and Higher Education.
