Humanitarian Clusters / Sectors
These Myanmar Humanitarian Clusters / Sectors pages are designed to consolidate vital information from various humanitarian clusters in support of relief efforts in Myanmar. In 2023, the humanitarian community has formulated a comprehensive and prioritized plan to address the escalating humanitarian needs of 4.5 million people in the country.
The current situation in Myanmar is marked by a complex combination of challenges, including restricted access, funding trends, and ongoing conflict. Despite these impediments, each cluster has identified opportunities to scale up and expand their reach to the growing number of crisis-affected populations in conflict-impacted areas.
The 2023 response strategy is centered on providing essential and life-saving assistance to the most affected and vulnerable civilians, such as internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, resettled and locally integrated individuals, non-displaced stateless people, and others with heightened humanitarian needs. Strengthening national capacities and fostering closer collaboration with development actors are integral components of this strategy.
Key clusters participating in the response include the Health Cluster, aiming to support 2.3 million people affected by disrupted public health systems; the Food Security Cluster, targeting 2.1 million people at risk of malnutrition; the Nutrition Cluster, focusing on 600,000 of the most vulnerable people; the Education Cluster, delivering emergency education services to 1.3 million children; and the Shelter/NFI/CCCM and WASH clusters, supporting 900,000 and 1.6 million people, respectively, with critical services such as potable water, sanitation, and emergency shelter.
The Protection Cluster also aims to increase its support to 2.1 million people in response to the deteriorating protection environment and economic crisis. To ensure a professional, transparent, and accountable response, protection mechanisms will be mainstreamed across all cluster activities.
This page serves as a hub for resources from various humanitarian clusters, providing valuable information to support the ongoing humanitarian response in Myanmar. We invite you to explore and utilize the resources available to aid in your understanding and contribution to these efforts.
