Landslide in Launglon Township: before-and-after satellite map

MIMU has released a before-and-after satellite map of a major landslide in Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region. Triggered by late-September torrential rain, the 26–27 September landslide sent a debris flow down the hillside that washed away buildings.

The map compares pre-event imagery with Sentinel-2 imagery from 30 September and 5 October. It shows landslide locations, building footprints and villages along the main road, from Sit Pyea and Gawt Inn in the north to Taw Kye, Tha Win and Lel Hla in the south.

This is a preliminary analysis and has not been validated in the field. Areas under cloud cover in the post-event imagery are masked in black, so some landslides may not appear. Ground feedback and other relevant information are welcome at [email protected].
